''Environmental psychology is the study of transactions between individuals and their physical settings. In these transactions, individuals change their environments, and their behavior and experiences are changed by their environments. It includes theory, research, and practice aimed at making the built environment more humane and improving human relations with the natural environment. Considering the enormous investment society makes in the physical environment including buildings, parks, streets, and the atmosphere. Environmental psychology focuses on the interplay between humans and their surrounding.'' (Gifford, Steg, and Reser 2010)

''I have been interested in the environmental psychology because so much of design work involves psychology which we not only need to think about the structure and space but we need to concern about interaction between humans and the surrounding.''Looking at such questions as:
- How do people feel in a place?
- What kind of space do they prefer to?
- What is the real underlying culture or message of the building?
- How does the design of the space affect all of that?
- Or said another way, how can we design an environment that meets the needs and desires of management, employees, clients and vendors as well as illustrating the message of the company via the design?

I think this is an awesome way to look at design- thinking about how it affects people beyond just the current interactions with a space/building; also looking at the psychological impact the design has on people long after they have left the space. This has the potential to improve a person’s attitude, behavior, and living standards.
