Penda's proposal for the New Bauhaus Museum competition features a transformable design that serves as an “extension of the city on one hand and as a connector to the surrounding park on the other.”
''The Bauhaus is not about form. It is about the performance of form. Not about shape, but about the logic of shape. Not about aesthetics, but how to adapt aesthetics to a daily use. Bauhaus was a shared spirit connecting art and life. Inspired by this spirit, we see the new Bauhaus Museum as an institution, which is fully integrated into the life of the citizen and its visitors of Dessau.'' (Oh E., 2015)

''Due to its flexible transformation, Penda's Proposal reacts to the frequencies of the surrounding in a very natural way and offers the possibility to become a connecting hub which shapes the community around it and links its visitors to the vision of the Bauhaus era. This could be seen on the design features, the two rotating platforms that can open to connect the museum to the sculpture park during the day and close at night. All the public areas were located on the lower levels in two cuboid volumes where each entity sits on a circular platform and able to rotate around which supported by a stable core where staircases, elevators and the building's hardware are located. His purpose on this rotating platform is to interact and connect with the public life and comply the needs and demands of its environment. Therefore, when the 2 platforms rotate, the building opens up and invites people into the park and the museum as the building aims to be an entrance sculpture to the park. As we can see, the museum design responds to the seasonal conditions. Thus, during summer months, the structure becomes a significant and prominent element within the park where the visitors are streaming to the park, lying in the sun, going for a run, playing with kids or watching a concert. In contrast, the museum will still serve as a visible icon when the area is not so busy in order to attract visitors to its various exhibitions and events during winter months.'' (Steven P., 2015)
It was carefully thought through on how the building interact with the surrounding and the daily life in the city ; and how the designer considering on the activities would be carry out through different seasons in order to interact with the public life in the park, and adapt to the needs and the demands of its environment.
