In this project, we were asked to analyse and explore a given interior space and produce a series of sketch models . By doing sketch models, we would able to understand how the space works. Research method that we need to carry out for the project before we start designing :
David Chipperfield's works :
- Site measuring by survey the site and get the measurements.
- Secondary research such as internet research.
- Visit to the existing place which we could experience the real space so that we could have more understanding about the space like how they control the natural sunlight and the flow of the space.
- Get inspiration from an architect's work - David Chipperfield on how he used natural light for the space.
- Control the natural light in the interior space which the space couldn't be too expose.
- Not to look into the form, but focus on the interior space.

I'm not a minimalist person, I found it quite difficult for me to do it in very simple ways as I always think it in a complicated ways. 'Less is more' and I'm still trying to adapt this different design style in UK as compared to my country. The beginning of the project, I was trying to create a space by bringing in the outdoor to the indoor. I always love the combination of the indoor and outdoor. Thus, the space won't be so enclosed but in the same time, it will still remained the used of natural lights to the space. It will be a places for collaboration and reflection, both inside and outside alike instead of design it in a specific areas. Kuma says : '' There is no definite boundary between interior and exterior, natural and artificial. '' ( Anon, 2014)

But what I realized was this project intentions were to control the lights in a space. After all, what I had learn from this project is how to control lights in a space and create a different kind of enclosed spaces on how the public could experience in each different spaces just by using the natural lights. This is the challenge of this project, it seems easy but actually it is not easy to control the light in a space as the light could be a guide to guide people to a space or give the space a sense of warm and cozy or different kind of feeling.
